Vietnam Apparel
April 18, 2008

The Office of Textiles and Apparel has posted its monthly monitoring data for certain apparel products imported from Vietnam for February 2008.

The International Trade Administration is monitoring these product categories to determine if the import data would support self-initiation of an antidumping duty investigation. (Note that no textiles or apparel from Vietnam are subject to U.S. quota.)

OTEXA Continues Monitoring of Five Product Categories

OTEXA states that it is initially monitoring five sensitive product categories of imports from Vietnam – trousers, shirts, sweaters, underwear, and swimwear. This monitoring will occur at various levels, including the three-digit textile/apparel category level and the more product-specific 10-digit Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) level.

According to OTEXA, the monitored products are not intended to be static. Products may be added or removed from monitoring, as appropriate, based on analysis and/or input received from outreach efforts.

The monitored product categories are as follows:

Trousers 347, 348, 447, 448, 647, 648, 847

Shirts 338, 339, 340, 341, 438, 440, 638, 639, 640, 641, 838, 840

Sweaters 345, 445, 446, 645, 646, 845

Swimwear 359S, 659S

Underwear 352, 652, 852
